Full swing again…

The amount of food these ants are taking now can only mean one thing so i turned the arena around to take a look at the nest and sure enough there are loads of larvae of all sizes and also some cocoons too. I wonder if the recent  downsize of the arena  has anything to do with the heightened breeding activity as the humidity is higher.

It iss difficult taking pics of the tunnels because i made them to deep , but the brood are scattered around in various places.

Another move.

Still not much activity in the nest although there are a few large larvae about. I have seen plenty of egg clusters but i don’t know whats happening to them???? The ants are taking anything i give them protein wise and still happy to drink plenty of sugar water. I have given them a smaller arena now as i think the other was to big, well the real reason was that i needed it for a new colony i hope will be arriving soon 🙂

All goes well.

After there move to the y-tong all seems  to be  going really well with plenty of new larvae and with the colony size growing. The nest has been quite damp because i never gave the nest enough time to dry properly after i washed it. It seems to have been accepted anyway. These ants seem to have a preference to small flies rather than crickets and roaches and are happy to take finely cut ham and fish which cuts down on the live food bill.
